Red Owl Analytics lands investment from Blackstone [Startup Roundup]

WHO’S GETTING FUNDED

Personal Genome Diagnostics won a contract from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Integrated Service Network in New England, according to a news release. The Canton-based biotech company will provide DNA testing for all newly-diagnosed lung cancer patients. The company’s product, CancerSelect, can detect alterations in 88 genes. The contract is worth $2 million, the Baltimore Business Journal’s Sarah Gantz reports.
eNeura Therapeutics sold $15 million in debt, and $5.8 million in equity, according to a pair of SEC filings. The medical technology company, which is based in the University of Maryland BioPark, is making a portable device to treat migraines.
R2integrated sold $6.4 million in equity, according to an SEC filing. The digital marketing company recently acquired Silicon Valley-based CatapultWorks and hinted that another acquisition may be on the horizon.
Red Owl Analytics received an investment from Blackstone. In a release, the investment group’s Jay Leek said their relationship with the Federal Hill-based cybersecurity company started when Blackstone hired Red Owl to secure their data. The amount of the investment wasn’t disclosed. The company closed a $4.6 million Series A round in the fall.

WHO’S MAKING MOVES

The new coworking space at Power Plant Live that is housing DreamIt Health Baltimore officially has a name. Spark, developed by the Cordish Companies, will have event space, a fitness center and even craft beer. We’ve been told the target opening date is early May. Check out the brochure.
BrinkBit, a current member of AccelerateBaltimore, is looking for input from game devs. The company is seeking responses to a three-minute survey. The team will use the responses to learn more about what devs want as they create an HTML5 game-development platform.

OrderUp celebrated its 10 millionth order last week. The milestone munchies were dropped off in Nashville, which is the Canton-based food delivery company’s newest market. The driver got a $1,000 tip, and, just for ordering, the customer got a night on the town in Nashville.
AgeneBio announced results of Phase 2 clinical trials for its treatment of the pre-dementia stage of Alzheimer’s. “The AGB101 Phase 2 results show that intervening during … the symptomatic pre-dementia stage of Alzheimer’s offers an excellent prospect to delay disease progression,” said AgeneBio CEO Jerry McLaughlin. The trials were conducted at Johns Hopkins University.
The Chesapeake Innovation Center has a new member company. Long Term Care Management Systems makes apps to help long-term care facilities connect with patients.
More news out of Odenton: Two current CIC companies will be at the spring edition of TechBuzz in Washington, D.C. MEDEX Spot and QuotePie were selected to present to the investors and influential entrepreneurs. ETC-based Sickeweather will also be among the 20 companies presenting on March 25.
The state helped convince Blue Pillar to move to Frederick. The company, which makes Internet of Things integration and energy management platforms, used to be located in Indianapolis. As part of a $14.6 million investment round, Blue Pillar received a $500,000 investment from the Maryland Venture Fund.
