Ridesharing fight remains heated [Links Roundup]

Tensions persist between Baltimore taxicabs and ridesharing upstarts Uber and Lyft. Also: Baltimore from space, via @astro_reid.

Tension rises between cab companies and ride-sharing rivals Uber, Lyft [Baltimore Business Journal]: “Baltimore’s taxicab industry makes it sound as if it’s willing to play nice when it comes to rivals Uber and Lyft. ‘Our objective is not to put them out of business,’ Dwight Kines, vice president of the Yellow & Checker Cab of Baltimore, said this week. But Kines and other cab industry executives will readily admit they only welcome the upstart ride-sharing companies if they, too, become more like taxis.”

Astronaut shares bird’s eye view of downtown Baltimore [Baltimore Sun]: “Cockeysville native and NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman shared a bird’s-eye view of downtown Baltimore with his Twitter followers Monday, the latest in a string of interesting perspectives he has shared.”

Downtown Baltimore gains national recognition [The Daily Record]: “Baltimore is keeping some pretty good company in the latest ‘listicle’ from the Huffington Post. The website called Baltimore one of the best waterfront cities in the world along with towns like Venice, Amsterdam and San Francisco. According to the site, Charm City is a great draw because a ‘bustling harbor and lively downtown area make Baltimore a favorite destination among tourists.'”
