Mindgrub moving from Catonsville to Locust Point in spring

Mindgrub will move into one-half of one building of the former manufacturing and distribution facility for Phillips Foods in Locust Point.

In September 2013, during a City Council hearing on the “innovation economy,” Mindgrub Technologies founder Todd Marks said he was interested in taking his company to Locust Point.
Now it looks like that’s happening.
The web, mobile and game development agency plans to relocate its Catonsville-based headquarters to Baltimore city this spring, as reported by the Baltimore Business Journal.
Mindgrub will move into one-half of one building of the former manufacturing and distribution facility for Phillips Foods, which closed in summer 2012. Located on Fort Avenue in Locust Point, the former Phillips Foods site is composed of two buildings, one of which is three stories and more than 130,000 square feet. The move, according to a Mindgrub spokesman, isn’t quite official yet — the lease still needs to be signed — but is nonetheless imminent.
The smaller building, at 50,000 square feet, has been partially occupied by Under Armour since fall 2012, when the Tide Point-based athletic-wear company leased about 25,000 square feet of office space. Mindgrub plans to move into this building before taking up space in the larger building.
During that fall hearing, Marks said he was fond of that part of the city, with its proximity to residential and other strong companies but lamented the state of Baltimore city schools. He was challenged by members of council to take a leadership role in bringing more jobs to the city. It appears he’s doing just that.
