Direct Dimensions taking 3D scans of Walters Art Museum sculptures [VIDEO]

In conjunction with this weekend’s Art Bytes hackathon at the Walters Art Museum, 3D scanning and modeling company Direct Dimensions will be doing 3D scanning of objects inside the museum.
The Owings Mills-based company was at the Walters on Thursday taking a 3D scan of a bust of George Washington the museum is now hosting.
“It’s here for conservation work as part of the restoration of the nearby Washington Monument,” said Dylan Kinnett, web and social media manager at the Walters.

In late 2013, Direct Dimensions was one of several local 3D scanning groups to open a 3D printing and scanning pop-up store in Canton.
