It looks like a smart watch, but the Atlas is a piece of wrist-mounted hardware that tracks how people work out: the exercises they do, how many reps, how many calories they’ve burned and a person’s heart rate.
One of the cofounders, Peter Li, graduated from the Johns Hopkins University in 2013.
The device is compatible with apps built by MapMyFitness, a company that lets people record and share their workouts that was acquired by Tide Point-based Under Armour in 2013.
The Austin, Texas-based company had its Atlas fitness tracker on display at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in early January.
