Sheltr app for homelessness services to launch this spring

Sheltr++, the Baltimore version of the Philadelphia web app that maps various city homelessness services, plans to release a test version of its app in February, with the final version forthcoming sometime in late April or May.

In a Q&A with gb.tc, the Sheltr++ developers — who received the tech council’s $1,000 Civic Innovation Prize in November, as well as another $1,000 for joining the 2013-2014 class of the Social Innovation Lab — outlined their progress so far.

As Technical.ly Baltimore reported, Sheltr++ was originally conceived at this city’s Hack for Change civic hacking event in June. BeMoreSheltr is the Android version of the web app produced at September’s HopHacks hackathon at the Johns Hopkins University, but both the web app and the mobile app have been merged into one project.
