who’s getting funded?

JK BioPharma Solutions, Inc., based in Potomac, has raised $50,000 in equity, according to SEC filings. The startup’s website is under construction, but it appears to be a biotech/biopharmaceutical startup.

who’s making moves?

Vince Talbert, cofounder of online credit startup Bill Me Later that was acquired by eBay in 2008 for about $820 million in cash, has been named CEO of GiveCorps, the Charles Village startup that runs crowdfunding for charitable giving online. In May, GiveCorps closed a round of $822,000 in angel funding, with Talbert contributing some money to the funding round.
Cybersecurity startup Light Point Security has ended its run in the Wall Street Journal‘s Startup of the Year contest. While the Light Point was one of the five finalists, it did not advance into the top three.
