Follow the Baltimore Police Department on Twitter long enough, and you’re likely to see a notification of a shooting tweeted out, generally within a half hour of every confirmed shooting.
But the Baltimore Sun noticed that four weekend shootings happened without notifications sent via the Baltimore police Twitter account.
The Sun reports that the city police recently made the decision to not tweet out every shooting that involves “criminal-on-criminal crime,” a decision the Baltimore police reversed on Monday. As the Sun notes, a spokesman for the Baltimore police said the department would continue to post tweets about every confirmed shooting in the city.
