Baltimore Innovation Week 2013 continues through this weekend. We hope you can get to all the events you’re interested in, but here are some recommendations for each day this week. See the full calendar of more than 50 events at BaltimoreInnovationWeek.com.
There are beautiful print magazines out and about the city, but some events have had updated timing, so check the website. There are also tons of Baltimore community staples participating in the week — like TechBreakfast, another sold out Ignite and others.
Here are some one-time events we dig:
Baltimore Robotics Expo: Stop by 1001 West Pratt Street as students from city robotics teams and robotics organizations show off the world of competitive robotics. This free event will feature robotics teams from Western High School and more city schools. Monday, Sept. 23, 3 p.m. Baltimore City Robotics Center, 1001 W. Pratt St., Hollins Market, Baltimore city. RSVP. FREE.
State of Startups: A series of afternoon “lightning talks” will focus on the startup community in Baltimore, trends in investment and ideas for buttressing entrepreneurship. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 3 p.m. University of Maryland BioPark, 801 W. Baltimore St., Hollins Market, Baltimore city. RSVP. FREE.
Trends in Mobile: Legendary video game creator Sid Meier anchors this evening event focused on what companies large and small are doing with mobile gaming and computing. Development shops from around the city will feature what they’re currently doing differently in the mobile space. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 5:30 p.m. University of Baltimore Student Center, 5th floor, 21 W. Mount Royal Ave., Midtown, Baltimore city. RSVP. FREE.
Homelessness, Technology and Youth: A recent university study shows that three-quarters of homeless youth spend an average of one hour per day on social networks. What should homelessness service providers do differently to connect with this demographic? A panel will tackle that topic. Thursday, Sept. 26, 3 p.m. Health Care for the Homeless, 421 Fallsway, Penn-Fallsway, Baltimore city. RSVP. FREE.
Baltimore Innovation Week Closing Party: It’s cocktail-y party meets local tech expo at our end-of-week gathering at the promenade on the campus of Under Armour in Tide Point. Friday, Sept. 27, 6 p.m. Under Armour, 1020 Hull St., Tide Point, Baltimore city. 21 and older. RSVP. $20.
WebSlam Finale Showcase: Get a look at the websites high school students have coded for local nonprofits during an all-day hackathon. Saturday, Sept. 28, 6 p.m. Digital Harbor Tech Center, 1045 Light St., Federal Hill, Baltimore city. RSVP. FREE.
