InvestMaryland Challenge: 9 companies chosen as finalists from field of 33

From 259, to 33, to nine.
Of 259 startups that applied to, and 33 semi-finalists chosen in, the inaugural InvestMaryland Challenge, just nine — three in each category — are finalists. The three winners of three $100,000 prizes will finally be announced at an awards ceremony April 15 at the Maryland Institute College of Art.
As Technically Baltimore has reported, the challenge is an early-stage business competition put on by the state of Maryland that will award cash grants to startups in three categories: IT hardware and software, life sciences and a general category that was open to startups across the U.S. (Only Maryland-based startups were eligible to apply for funding in the former two categories.)
