UMBC grad Todd Blatt, the man behind Custom3dStuff.com and former MakerBot employee who encased Tickle-Me-Elmo in Carbonite, is one of many chosen for the Google Glass Explorers Program.
He received his invitation on March 27. And, as Blatt wrote on his Google + account, his plan for Google’s impressive specs is to “practice hands-free 3d scanning for 3d printing using 123d catch.” It’s in reference to Autodesk’s 123D Catch web app, which helps people print 3D models of photos they’ve taken.
Explorers will travel to New York City, San Francisco or Los Angeles to pick up their Google Glass devices, which will also cost each of them $1,500. (Glass Explorers were chosen for the privilege to be among the first group to purchase a pair of the new glasses.)
