Human Genome Services to lay off 97 more employees in Rockville

Human Genome Services plans to lay off 97 more employees at is Rockville, Md., location, according to the Baltimore Business Journal.

The jobs to be eliminated are part of an ongoing internal restructuring plan, according to the notice with the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. The layoffs will begin Dec. 15. [more]

Announcement of additional layoffs comes nearly three months after London-based GlaxoSmithKline completed its purchase of the Rockville-based biotechnology firm, as Technically Baltimore reported in August.
Human Genome services and GlaxoSmithKline had collaborated since 2006 on a new drug for treating lupus, Benlysta, which was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in March 2011.
