Morgan State University “has developed a hub for science, technology, engineering and math” inside its Center for the Built Environment and Infrastructure Studies, reports the Baltimore Sun.

The $69.9 million center, which opened [September 20], features learning technologies such as an earthquake simulation chamber, a 3-D projector and an architecture studio. The earthquake studio is one of two on the East Coast and can simulate seismic activity up to a magnitude of 9.0. [more]

According to Morgan State’s website, the new academic center also “houses research and instructional programs for the School of Architecture and Planning and the School of Engineering’s Civil Engineering, Transportation Studies, and the National Transportation Center.”
Construction of the new building was started in 2010, according to theĀ Sun.
