At BizWorkshop, Bowie & Jensen will offer discounted legal services to startups

TechBreakfast organizer and Bizelo founder Ron Schmelzer is organizing a comprehensive one-day “legal bootcamp” for startup founders Aug. 30. Right now, the event is tentatively scheduled to be held at the TowsonGlobal Business Incubator.

Startups and small businesses will guided through the requisite legal filings by the lawyers at Bowie & Jensen, a sponsor of the Baltimore TechBreakfast. The flat fee of $249 includes:

• Incorporation in either Maryland or Delaware
• Articles of incorporation and/or organization
• Employee agreements
• Intellectual property inventory and audit outline

Schmelzer says the legal workshop is important to make sure Baltimore isn’t perceived as “amateurs-ville” for startups.
“It’s going to create a minimum threshold for companies, [and] that’s going to help our city quite a bit,” Schmelzer says.
Schmelzer says that he might run such an event every month depending on the demand, but, for now, the plan is to do some sort of one-day legal bootcamp every quarter.
