TeamGantt Takes Project Schedules to the Cloud

Anyone who has charted out resource schedules for their clients and projects has most certainly come across the Gantt chart. What most people probably haven't come across is a way to produce these charts in an online, cloud-based environment. This is exactly the challenge that White-marsh based TeamGantt set out to do last year.

Anyone who has charted out resource schedules for their clients and projects has most certainly come across the Gantt chart. What most people probably haven’t come across is a way to produce these charts in an online, cloud-based environment. This is exactly the challenge that White-marsh based TeamGantt set out to do last year.
Nathan Gilmore, a UX designer and co-founder of TeamGantt, sat down with me yesterday and filled me in on his product’s incredible growth over the past year. Quick history on Nathan: He’s from the Baltimore area and graduated from Towson with a computer science degree. After graduating, he took a job at TD Ameritrade in Columbia and soon found himself spending his free time building software for his in-laws roofing company. The part-time work with the roofing company soon transitioned into a full-time commitment which is when he left TD and began working side-by-side with another software developer named John Correlli for the roofing company. While at at that company, John, a rockstar PHP and front-end developer, and Nathan began spending their weekends working on a new idea they had for online Gantt software, which is when they cofounded TeamGantt.

The duo took their website into a public beta in February 2010 and within 9 months they had 1,400 users. The site went live in November 2010 and since then they’ve reached an impressive 17,000 users. TeamGantt is already being used by some project managers at Twitter, Time Warner, ORACLE, MLS Network, COLOURLovers, and Ryan Carson’s newest project Treehouse.
What’s really impressive is that all of these leads have been a result of an initial $100 Google AdWords campaign and the rest have come through traditional, organic SEO. In fact, up until now they haven’t really received a lot of press and have bootstrapped the company completely through customer signups. I asked Nathan if he was interested in raising money and he said he’s always open to have a conversation but is having a lot of fun right now with the freedom of being bootstrapped. (If you do get in touch with them, tell him Mike Brenner sent ya!)
Whenever you hear that a cloud-based solution’s biggest competition is desktop software, you know they’re doing something right. TeamGantt offers a 30-day free trial to everyone and not only allows you to do project schedule management but also internal messaging and file asset sharing related to your project timelines. Go support your local software startup and give TeamGantt a try.
